Elizabeth Lutyens was a musician who made a living composing scores for both Hammer and Amicus horror movie productions. She knew at the young age of 9 that she wanted to be a composer. She preferred to write in a more minimalist style and created her own form of serialsm (technique of composing) which was considered progressive at the time.

Elizabeth Lutyens
Lutyens was not a snob about classical music – she enjoyed creating her own compositions for chamber orchestras as much as she enjoyed scoring for horror movies. She was a realist who knew she had to pay the bills and was known for her no nonsense take on business and making money. She wrote the music for one of my favourite Amicus horror movies – Dr Terror’s House of Horrors
Stefany Mathias is a kick-ass actress who is not only one of my best friends, but is also a woman in horror I get to work with! She was in my horror short Hike and is going to be in my upcoming horror/thriller feature Final Weekend. She’s amazingly talented and recently moved down to LA to pursue acting full time. We met over 12 years ago and became fast friends, bonding over our mutual love of horror and over our mutual love of film in general. Stefany was on the acclaimed Vancouver tv show Da Vinci’s Inquest and has worked on many other tv shows and films – (IMDB). She’s an actress who brings so much skill, maturity and depth to any role she plays. She’s passionate, fearless, funny, energetic and committed to doing what it takes to get the best shot every time- a consummate professional. We have tons of fun working together and have spent many days/nights crawling around in the muddy forest as she does yet another take of running, falling and hitting the dirt hard! Needless to say, I am a huge Stefany Mathias fan! Anyone who gets to work with her is doubly lucky! Not only are they getting an incredibly talented actress but they’re also getting an incredibly wonderful person! Check out Stefany’s official site – stefanymathias.com

Stefany Mathias in Hike
Day 2 of Women in Horror Month: Another kick ass woman in horror is Ingrid Bolso Berdal ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2070336/). She stars in both Cold Prey & Fritt vilt 2. Both movies are from Norway and the 2nd movie picks up right where the first one ends. Berdal channels some serious Ripley ‘esque’ characteristics in both. She’s smart, physically strong and is able to channel her fear into intelligent action. Fritt Vilt 2 pays some serious homage to Halloween 2 and another strong female character in horror, Jamie Lee Curtis. Slasher movies at their best!
